The many partners interested in the TrUST platform will entrench their renown experience with DIST objectives of internationalization and excellence: existing networks of gold practices for interdisciplinary collaboration and sustainability research and education will hype new engagement methodologies and techniques to be tested in the TrUST platform. Knowledge is built through a constructivist process that places human experience at the centre of research processes, incorporating three methods: phenomenology, dialogue, and collaborative action research. All three address the same key issue: the inter-twined constitution of knowledge, reality, and self at the base of the TrUST research path about inter/trans-disciplinarity. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis also enrich the literature review and the interview tracks of the first two WPs of the projects.

Take a look at the TrUST network:

We seek: To review of the current literature describing tools and methodologies for ITD research and education practices;

To conduct a comparative analysis and field works within EU-World renown academic institutions working on global urban challenges within the Sustainable Development Goals strategic framework;

To perform a mapping exercise and capacity building activities inside the ITD landscape of POLITO members and the TrUST platform.

The implementation plan, from February 2019 to the end of February 2020, is broken down into WPs, Objectives, Tasks, Subtasks and Deliverables, along with functioning schemes and Gantt chart. In order to encompass the entire life cycle of a research programming and funding, from the strategic and abstract dimension of framing (WP1), to the practical dimension of methodology (WP2) and case studies selection and implementation (WP3), the TrUST project will draw on examples and experience related to SDG11 (WP4) to propose a compliant dissemination plan (WP5), as showed in the workflow below:.

PLATFORM.png

The TrUST platform will optimise and capitalise shots of the several EU funded projects (SHAPE-ENERGY, RESTORE Cost Action, INTREPID Cost Action, URBE by Siebel Energy Institute, SHAPE-ID) that are currently undergoing in the partners’ research activity. Complementary to this, is the continuous accompanying of the forthcoming Horizon Europe programme preparation (with stakeholders from POLITO interdepartmental centers, CESAER, RUS, ASviS, ISCN, IRS, Social Fare) as well as for the three SC6 H2020 calls (Societal Challenge 'Europe in a changing world –Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies') in the loop of the SDG11 proposals encouraging multidisciplinary, cross-national, comparative and participatory approaches.

broader trajectory.png

The broader trajectory within the TrUST project envisions the creation of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agent catalyst entity: TrUST will be both a virtual and a physical platform that aspires to increase the co-leadership of its strategic academic members within the overall DIST/POLITO/UnITO community and their international projection and partners, prompting local research and teaching responses of high socio-economic value for the competitive research funding schemes (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus +, COST actions) along the SDG11 challenges.

LPLAN.png

At the end of the first year of TrUST, a legacy plan will be indeed dedicated to the co-creation of the TRUST platform: this means building landing strips of the future in order to explore guidelines and tools to stand up as the reference point in POLITO for transdisciplinary research and education projects in urban-related topics for competitive research funding schemes. Receiving and developing unique initiatives of excellence, internationalisation and connection with similar platforms around Europe and beyond, TrUST will act like a happy reference point for capacity building in the field of transdisciplinary research and education initiatives, tools and human resources at Politecnico di Torino. All the three research lines at DIST ( “A. Sviluppo urbano e regionale, B. Resilienza e sicurezza dell'ambiente naturale e costruito; C. Patrimonio culturale e paesaggio”) could benefit from the powerful network of competencies activated by the TrUST Platform.
